Change node Apply to modes

While the repeater nodes that allow you to easily create repeated patterns from elements are very powerful on their own, you can do even more by combining these with change nodes that apply various changes to elements (like rotating, scaling or changing their color). And to get the most out of this it’s important to understand the “Apply to” modes available on all such change nodes.

The apply to mode selector is the same and available in all change nodes, however it’s only shown when the node is acting on a group of elements. Like in the example above when a Repeat Grid node has created a group of repeated elements, or on a group layer with multiple child layers.

The first Apply to mode is Group when this is selected the change is applied to the entire group only once.

The second mode is Each, and when this is selected the change is instead applied to each element in the group separately.

The third option is Selected, and this mode allows you to apply the change to only some of the elements in the group. In this mode a second control menu is also shown where you can select what type of selection criteria should be used to determine what elements to apply the change to.
